My G-G-Generation

Life’s little big stressors are running rampant these days, at this stage of my life. Health issues have started dominating calendars and conversations. Friends in their late 50s and 60s are splitting up and getting divorced. The ugliness is wrapping around everything until it is all one big throbbing mass of a bad voracious thing, consuming patience. And patience is a vital non-renewable resource that runs very thin in our old age. The bonds of community fray and life grinds us all down, literally, into the ground.

All of this, however, is just a mass of feelings. All real, for sure. But too much feeling can lead to a self-absorption that is no good for anybody. So, that is a problem. And the whole nature of a problem is that it must be dealt with. It is not easy, if even at all possible. This is Life. No one gets out alive.

Guys like us, the 43–44% who vote the way we do (see the CIRCLE chart above), perform a great service to human civilization, buying time for natural selection and holding our own generation in check while the youth learn the ropes. But that is only because old white guys need to die off.

Of course, I hate watching my friends giving up their ghosts. That is a problem. But I am not suggesting to “get rid” of anyone. I’m just talking about watering down the rightward skew of our demographic voting power in order to buy time for natural…
